The Top Three Methods of Digital Marketing

In short, digital marketing is what you do to promote your business on the internet. Your purpose is to attract visitor traffic to your online destination. This is usually a web site. But it could also be your social media page. Your aim is to convert this visitor into a new or returning customer. Your goal is to motivate site visitors so they contact you for more information, buy your product, or access your online or offline services. Unlike offline marketing, digital marketing provides real-time statistics on your marketing effectiveness. Here are the top three methods of digital marketing. Social Media, Search Engine Optimization, and Pay-Per-Click.

Social Media Optimization (SMO)

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn,  are four of the leading social media sites. These tools offer you a variety of creative methods to communicate with your customers. They all also offer some form of enhanced advertising services. These purchased premium services offer increased exposure to your brand.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Everybody wants to be number one. Search engine web sites like DuckDuckGo and Google catalog the internet. Search engines provide a search form to allow users to query their catalog for a specific result. These results are listed in order of relevancy. These search engines make money by selling ad placement on their sites and selling priority placement in the results (known as PPC).

Pay-Per-Click (PPC)

When you want some extra brand-boosting to surpass your competitors, you have to spend money. Period. Enter the world of pay-to-play, or Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising, as it is often referred to.

You will see these ads placed beside your search engine results or on websites you visit, sometimes with a little “sponsored” tag. Your business will only pay for these advertisements when someone clicks on them, hence the name. You may notice that a product search on Amazon will result in that same product showing up in ads on web sites and all over your social media accounts. These are PPC campaigns.

The cost of PPC varies tremendously. It will completely depend on exactly what it is that you’re selling and how popular the keywords are.
